Assistance available for upgrading school buses
The Queensland Government provides funding to eligible school bus operators to assist with the purchase of new buses or buses that are less than five years old. The objective of the scheme is to help accelerate the introduction of rollover-compliant buses into the Queensland school bus fleet.
How much:
40% of the purchase cost (including stamp duty) of the Upgraded School Bus, or $120,000, whichever is the lesser. A new bus with over 30 seats will attract a deferred second payment calculated at 10% of the amount used for the original subsidy calculation.

To accelerate the introduction of rollover compliant buses into the Queensland school bus fleet.
Overview:
SchoolBUS is a financial assistance scheme that provides funding to school bus operators.
Funding provided under SchoolBUS helps operators to purchase the following:
- new buses
- used buses that are:
- less than 5 yrs of age, or
- or 5 years but less than 10 years of age with more than 30 passenger seats
- ADR 68/00 seats (lap/sash seat belts)
- air conditioning.
Who can apply (eligibility):
All school bus operators who have a qualifying school bus to be replaced and who are contracted to Queensland Transport to supply a service that principally carries distance-eligible students assisted under the School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS).
